چکیده

To continuously monitor health information using wireless sensors placed on a person is a promising application. Human body communication (HBC) is proposed as a low power, security and light-weight communication technology that could be applied in aforementioned applications. In this work, the characterization of HBC propagation delay and phase deviation were investigated for the first time. In-situ experiments were performed in our lab in the frequency bands:1MHz-200MHz. Four HBC propagation channels, i.e., from left arm to right arm, from left arm to right leg, from right leg to left leg and from left arm to left leg were investigated. Group delay was measured from 13 volunteers, and then the propagation delay and phase deviation were estimated by statistical analysis. The propagation delay values are almost equal for four communication channels in each sub-band:1-100MHz and 100-200MHz. It is concluded that propagation delay is independent with propagation channel. However, from 1MHz to 100MHz the delay is generally longer than that in the frequency band 100-200MHz. i.e., in channel 1, the mean delay is 17.06 ns in frequency band 1-100MHz, while the mean delay is 15.23 ns in frequency band 100-200MHz. Lognormal model is found to be the best fitting distribution for the normalized phase deviation according the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) and Akaike information criterion (AIC). Keywords-human body communication (HBC), propagation delay, phase deviation, statistical analysis

A Hysteretic Two-phase Supply Modulator for Envelope Tracking RF Power Amplifiers

In this paper a two-phase supply modulator suitable for envelope tracking power amplifier is presented. The designed supply modulator has the linear assisted switching architecture. Two-phase architecture is used in order to reduce the output switching ripples. The proposed architecture uses hysteretic control instead of pulse width modulation (PWM) which significantly reduces the circuit compl...

Effects of RF-EMF Exposure from GSM Mobile Phones on Proliferation Rate of Human Adipose-derived Stem Cells: An In-vitro Study

Background:As the use of mobile phones is increasing, public concern about the harmful effects of radiation emitted by these devices is also growing. In addition, protection questions and biological effects are among growing concerns which have remained largely unanswered. Stem cells are useful models to assess the effects of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) on other cell lines. S...

Tests with RF feedback and Landau damping

Tests were made with an RF feedback system with increased bandwidth around the 200 MHz Travelling Wave Cavities. The high intensity beam was stabilised just after injection but became again unstable at higher energies. Addition of the 800 MHz RF system in bunch shortening mode stopped instabilities at energies up to 450 GeV but could not control them on the flat top at maximum 200 MHz RF voltag...

Localization of an RF source inside the Human body for Wireless Capsule Endoscopy

This paper presents a method based on the phase difference of arrival and the non-linear least square estimation to localize a radio-frequency (RF) source, e.g a wireless capsule endoscope, inside the human body. The phase difference of arrival at multiple frequencies of a signal is used to estimate the distance of the source to a receiver. The linear least square estimation is used to estimate...
